Have you optimized your blog for mobile devices yet?
I am happy to say that I can now cross this off my to do list. It took me about 6 months to get around to this but I have finally made my blog “mobile friendly.” I have spent the last couple of hours researching the wordpress mobile plugins and wanted to summarize my thoughts here to save you some time if you have not installed a mobile plugin. Let me start with the plugins that I did not choose and then I will get into what I selected and why.
Wordpress Mobile Plugins I did not select:
- Wordpress Mobile Edition Plugin – I had problems activating this one, so obviously this one is out.
- Wp-Wap 2.30 – I read some mixed reviews on this one and it does not seems to have any support or recent upgrades
- Wordpress Mobile Plugin- This is a pretty popular one and there are many happy users out there. I actually installed this one and took it for a spin.
Wordpress Mobile Plugin I did select:
This plugin just blew me away with the amount of features they have any what is coming next.
Here are some of the cool features:
- No redirection to a mobile version. The same url will display on your mobile device as the web. This is helpful from an SEO perspective.
- Easy commenting capabilities on your mobile device.
- If you are a css junkie you will be thrilled at the ability to customize the look and feel.
- Have you installed a mobile plugin? Which one?
If you have your mobile phone handy, check out my site and let me know what you think.

I’m browsing on a mobile with Opera Mini and IMO the site appears very simple and basic. Most modern phones can handle much more.

I installed one sometime ago and have even forgot the name of it. I normally view my blog via my cell phone and the site does not look that bad.
I guess I should go and have a look at ‘Wapple Architect’ to see what it’s all about and see if it’s for my blog. Thanks for mentioning it.

I’m out to build the ultimate user-friendly mobile device, I want to know what people think of devices that are currently out there, so that I can keep those suggestions in mind when designing my program.

It includes a mobile switcher to select themes based on the type of user that is visiting the site, a selection of mobile themes, extra widgets, device adaptation and a mobile administration panel to allow users to edit the site or write new posts when out and about.

Used both blogger and wordpress for my blog. i have my own domain name and hosting, and i find that wordpress, is so much better with its plugins and customizations.

I’m loving wordpress mobile pack right now. I had a lot of errors in my Google Webmasters page using Mobilepress. Looking forward to seeing all the errors go away soon. Hopefully Wordpress Mobile Pack won’t start giving me issues anytime soon.

If your blackberry can log into the site through the admin interface, it should be no problem entering article content the default admin template might be awkward on a mobile device. Here are a couple of commercial templates you may consider, that formats the admin back end to be more mobile friendly.

It also means it will only happen on that posting and no other, this is why this is my have to have plug in. originally designed as a upgrade to the wysiwyg editor but has the function of multiply plug ins.

The type of plug in really depends on what is is specifically used for. The one plug in that i can not seem to do with out is the DeansFCKEditor for wordpress.
