I am all about the dofollow. I have the enabled on all my sites. Its a win win...people get links for participating, and I get alot more readers. dofollow has many benefits indeed. It will allow you to “socialize” and have friendly conversation with your visitors. Of course spam will always be there so maintaining spam free blog will require you to check and manually remove spam comments.

I agree with you that the "dofollow" practice is generally a good idea, I have my blogs set up as dofollow and I see it is appreciated. I have nothing against providing someone who wants to add to the value of my site with useful relevant commentary a followed backlink. After all, encouraging with reward is works.
