Twitter Voyeurism

Posted by Dan Keller in Social Media on 07 2nd, 2009 | 8 responses

We are witnessing the next evolution of Twitter right before our eyes.  Of course we all know that Twitter is a micro blogging platform where you can express your thoughts in 140 characters or less.  The hottest trend right now on Twitter is expressing yourself not only through text but also through pics and videos.   With this being said, it is not surprising that some new sites have popped up to take advantage of this trend.  The best in class so far is Twit Caps. Twit Caps is basically an image search engine that allows you to search, browse and share images via Twitter.  There tag line is “watching the world” and it is very appropriate.  I sort of feel like a peeping tom looking into the lives of other people.  I guess in a way this whole Twitter phenomenon is like modern voyeurism.  At first we were reading about the intimate thoughts and desires of strangers.  Now we get to visualize it as well.  Kind of creepy in a way, but I must admit I cannot stop searching and browsing the photos on this site. Because this is all happening in real time you may find some pictures that are “not safe for work.”  Maybe this is why I like this site so much!!

If you haven’t been to this site yet, check it out…It will keep you entertained.

In that case, it’s not suited for kids. Wait, I’m on close to legal age. lol.

Seriously though, I hate it when stuff like that happens on social networking sites.

Marketing via Twitter rocks! but yes, there are certain rules that everyone should follow. I think advertising through images and videos is more useful since visual message appeals more than simple text based advertising.
