Twitter Follower Management Tool – Tweepi Review

Posted by dankeller in Social Media on 11 5th, 2009 | 23 responses

Twitter Follower Management is an important aspect of the Twitter experience.  For those of us that have been using Twitter for a while it is only as good as the people you interact with.  I think most people go through various stages when they start using Twitter and at first you try to follow as many people as you can and hope they follow you back.  You may even try some tools that will get you thousands of followers in one month.  Then you start to realize that it really sucks interacting with all these people who you do not know and that are just trying to get you to buy something or do something.  It is at this point that you really need to look into follower management tools to help you gain control and organize your Twitter account.

I wrote a post several months ago about a tool that I have used in the past, if you have not read that post you may want to check it out.

Best Twitter Follower Management Tool

I discovered another useful twitter follow management site called Tweepi .

tweepi-logo

Tweepi is similiar to Tweepular but does have a couple of innovative distinctions that can propel it to best in class.  They describe themselves as a geekier and faster way to manage Twitter.  There are four basic components of the tool.

  1. Geeky Follow- The concept here is to select a popular Twitter user and then follow the people that follow them as they will likely have the same interests.  The cool part is that Tweepi provides stats and you can decide who you want to follow based on their follower ratio and their level of retweets and engagement.
  2. Flush – This is basically an “unfollow” tool and again they give you data to help you make your decisions.
  3. Reciprocate – This allows you to follow tweeps that are following you, again with data.
  4. Clean Up – This is my favorite thing about Tweepi and in my opinion the most useful.  This allows you to clean your list and cut out those that are not tweeting anymore and likely left Twitter and those that are spamming the hell out of you.

If your Twitter account has gotten out of control and needs some pruning you might want to check this out.

Do you use any Twitter follower management tools?  What is your favorite?

I used to use “TweetLater” or as it is known now “SocialOomph” for a lot of twitter stuff, but this does sound better, I’ll pop on over and give it a try, thanks for the heads up ;)

We dont typically use a 3rd party software for twitter, however with the spam growing on Twitter, it may be time to use a tool to get rid of some of the spammers, and as you mentioned, people who dont use twitter anymore.

Also, the first component seems like a nice tool to use.

    Cheers

I don’t know. I like to keep Twitter as organic as possible. I use Twittley to retweet a lot of articles because it makes it so much easier and makes the retweet more powerful. Plus I use Twuffer to schedule future tweets so that I can keep a Twitter presence without killing my offline life.

When it comes to tools like this, it makes me feel like it’s taking away from the functionality of using Twitter. I don’t like it when programs make too many decisions for me, and it seems like this program might be approaching that line.

I’d be curious to hear what other people who have used this program have to say about it.

I’ve been experimenting with a number of Twitter management tools. So far, I’ve looked at HootSuite, Seesmic and CoTweet. While I’m not familiar with Tweepi, it’s not surprising because there seems to be a new one every other week.

I plan on using each tool to get a good baseline on what each can do and then experiment. Tweepi will be on the top of my list.

    Thanks.

What a fascinating post. got caught up reading some of your posts, but this one really stuck out. I have heard some many time people talking about good quality, unique content, etc etc but I have never heard anyone mention ‘relevant’ content. What you have said makes complete sense and really is an eye opener as to where people, myself included, go wrong when it comes to blogging/internet marketing.
