Several weeks ago I swapped my Tweetmeme button for the Twittley button and wrote about in the post ” Is Twittley better than Tweetmeme “ I continue to be impressed with the service and the value it has brought to my blog so far. I have decided to write a top 10 list of the best reasons to use Twittley. Everyone loves top ten lists, right? Well, I know I do. Here it goes:
- Traffic. I figured I would start with this as all bloggers want more traffic. My traffic has spiked since I started using Twittley. I am receiving visits direct from the site from the additional retweets and I am engaging with new bloggers as well. Since I have started using Twittley, I have been on page 1 all but one day. In fact that is today, I just got bumped to page 2.
- More Twitter Followers- I have seen a nice increase in my follower stats as well. Twittley has a feature where after your article there is a link that says “follow webmaster” and all you have to do is click it and it automatically follows that person.
- Better Ranking system. Not all tweets are created equal. Twittley has a weighted system based on your Twitter karma and Twittley karma that allows the voters with more karma to have more of a voice on which articles get on the front page. It is not uncommon to see articles with 8 tweets on page one with articles with 1,800 tweets.
- Cool buttons- Not only is the Twittley button the smartest button around, it is also the coolest looking. They offer choices and soon will offer the ability to customize.
- Hash Tags- When your link is tweeted, it is now sent out with hash tags. This leads to more traffic because your tweet will be searchable in all the hash search engines that are popping up. The cool part is that this is automated, they will take your tags and category and use them as the hash tags.
- The more you use it, the more valuable it becomes. Because they use a weighted system based on karma, the more articles you submit, tweet, and comment on the more karma you will get. The more karma you have the more weight your vote will have. This will increase your chances og ranking higher, which will result in in more retweets and more traffic. Isn’t that cool how that all works out…
- Great network of bloggers. There is a great group of bloggers that have been using the site and have a tendency to tweet each other. These bloggers include, Extreme John, Serradinho, Karen from Blazing Minds, Justin from Dragon Blogger, Deneil Merritt, and Sire. These users have high karma so votes from them carry a lot of weight. This is the way I got to page one with 8 tweeets. It is easy to engage with these bloggers by spending time on their blog and interacting with them on Twitter and Twittley.
- Submit your own link. Many social network sites like Digg will ban you for doing this. Twittley actually recommends it. This is a great way to build your karma and you are also making it real easy for people to just click the button to send out the tweet. You are also keeping the reader on your site.
- Link Juice- Twittley uses 301 page redirects, so in essence all the link juice is passed on to your blog. As the site continues to soar in popularity you can expect and increase in PR.
- This one is so basic, I almost forgot to mention it. You will get more retweets.
Are you using Twittley yet? Do you have any reasons to add?

10 Reasons not to use twittley!
1.We have Blog Engage
2.The site is 100% over rated
3.We have Tweetmeme
4.The voting system sucks I have 21 votes and never was published mainly because it promoted Blog Engage I’m assuming.
5.Without Twitter it would be nothing
6.The design is basic and boring
7.Errors when trying to vote during the allow process
8.The website is slow
9.Votes come from friends and not the community
10.Over the next month or so it will be dead and have no users
Sorry I’m bias maybe!

I think i would have used twittley if i had started on twitter because it doesn’t count the no. of tweets which have already been done on twitter. I think i should backtype it counts almost all the tweets linking to to your site

This article got me curious about Twittley, especially since it can add more followers to your Twitter profile and check your updates. More retweets are always healthy for your site’s page rank and PR. I’m trying the service now to help boost my site traffic.

Wait, the discussion is about Tweetley being “better” than Tweetmeme right? I don’t know. I don’t try any of them. I just love spending time in real Twitter spirit.
No offense though, I will consider it from now on.

@brian-
that is a good top ten list of your own. Not sure what’s up with the technical issues, but they have good customer service if you wanted to drop them a note. On a side not, I have been seeing some nice referral traffic from Blog Engage lately. It seems like the traffic is picking up nicely.
@Ricky- I will be looking for your links on Twittley and will certainly give them some love.
@George- I am glad Twittley is working for you too.
@Gautam- I agree that it would be cooler if they counted the tweets before the submission…but moving forward if you get in the practice of submitting your post right after you publish it, you will be in good shape.
@Liane- a twitter purist, huh. I here ya, but with this button you are just making it easier for fans of your blog to RT your post when they are on your blog instead of having to wait until they are on Twitter.

I think achieving point 2 will contribute directly or indirectly to point 1. More twitter users = more traffic to your blog posts. So I think they both come handy.
