Sponsored Tweets vs Ad.ly – 3 weeks later

A couple of weeks ago I wrote a post  about the two leading twitter ad networks and the fact that I was going to give them both a test drive.  I received an email from Adly today announcing that they added a referral program.  My reaction was, its about time, what were you waiting for.  Anyway, that email reminded me that I was going to write a follow up to my original post and let you all know how things were going.  Well here is my report at 3 weeks using both services.  Simply stated, Sponsored Tweets is pretty good and Adly sucks.

Keep in mind, this is only one publishers opinion based on 3 weeks of experience.  With Sponsored Tweets I made $16.70 so far.  I am not John Chow here who boasts about making thousands a week per this service but I can honestly tell you that you can make real money.  I am thinking and hoping that as my Twitter follower count grows and this service catches on and grows that the revenue stream will grow as well.  Another cool part about this “expirement” is that I was able to bring 6 people into the program through my affiliate link and will be making 10% of what ever they make for the next ten years.  This has only been a couple of bucks so far, but again I am thinking this will grow in time.  I am going to stick with Sponsored Tweets as I believe they have already carved out a leadership position in this space and will continue to dominate into the future.  As far as Adly is concerned, I am not sure they have any advertisers in their system.  If they do, they have certainly found a way to avoid me.

Sponsored Tweets – 3 weeks – $16.70

Adly – 3 weeks – $0

Are you guys making any money with these services yet?

Just registered for both services, but have not seen any action yet. Hopefully its picking up, as I have learned Ad.ly pays a little bit higher.

I’m registered with Sponsored Tweets, twiverts, revtwt and twittad. Until now i only have a small success with revtwt (less than 3 $ in over 4 months).

Did you change your ad price in Sponsored Tweets or leave it at the suggested price (which changes daily)?

Thanks for all your feedback. Just so you know, we’re launching our self serve solution soon which will add a lot of fuel to the fire. The publishers here who haven’t gotten offers will get some shortly so stay tuned!

Sponsered tweets really has the potential to become big. Also you can make some good money by using their program. I haven’t made any money from them yet, but once my twitter account gets lots of followers I would be more serieus.

Never heard of ad.ly and I am glad that you have given the verdict about it already. Will save me time. I have been using sponsored tweets and I do agree with you that it is a viable option to make an extra income. Almost there for the first payout, wooot. We’ll see if they pay quickly:)

I’m still in the testing mode and am going to see which works well for me. Ad.ly has the potential to grow, so give it more times and we could see the result.

    Regards,
    Lee

How would one go about earning money, though? I’m using sponsored tweets, to get paid, paid for blogging, and barely getting any money from it.

I once landed up on a website where I entered twitter username and password. Since then, my twitter account is sending spam tweets automatically. They have messages like “found a new way to gain more followers”.

I signed up Sponsored Tweets and Ad.ly. For over one month, I earn $13.50 from Sponsored Tweets and nothing form Ad.ly. My price per tweet is set at $.50 ($4.75 Sponsored Tweets advice) while $12 from Ad.ly.

Very interesting that you even earned something. I thought twitter is only used by robots.

But now it looks like there are some real visitors.

Thanks for the tip about sponsored tweets. There are so many opportunities for hard working entrepreneurs on the web today, and it is often difficult to know which to pursue. Ultimately you have to pick a niche and make it your own.
