Do you need Izea to sell Sponsored Tweets?

I have written a couple of articles about Sponsored Tweets, the Izea service that helps you monetize your Twitter account, over the past few weeks.  I am  definitely a fan of the service (as you can see by the banner ad above) and I have made some money so far and have brought in a dozen affiliates under me.  Although I like the service, I have been thinking that it might make sense to cut out the middle man and offer this service directly on my blog.  This is kind of like how I do it with sponsored posts.  I work with several services like Review Me, Social Spark and Sponsor Reviews but I also offer the option for folks to purchase a sponsored post directly through me via my contact form and paypal.  I know a lot of other bloggers do this as well but I have not seen anyone offer sponsored tweets directly yet.

So here is the deal:

Based on the 3,500 followers I have on my personal account @followdankeller , Izea suggests I charge $4.00.  The way they work is they charge the advertiser a 100% mark up, so it would cost $8.00 for one tweet through their service.

Here is what I am proposing:

For $8.00 you will get 3 tweets spread out over 3 days at @followdankeller (3,500 followers)

AND

3 tweets on @tycoonblogger (750 followers) spread out over 3 days.

So what do you think?  Good deal?  Good idea?  Do you know any other bloggers that are doing this?

Hey Dan that’s pretty tight.Disclaimer although I like the owner of Izea as a person I don’t like or approve or participate in his parasitic businesses. Izea didn’t care about bloggers and their page rank and I NEVER wrote a sponsored post nor wanted to.They having WHITE collared snobs demanding you erase this or remove that was way to much for me.So sponsored tweets LOOKED HOT and NOW Mr Murphy comes with a cool even playing field way for everyone to benefit NOT
Once I read on the NY Times fake ass ad page about how they paid celebs and goof web celeb gurus one rate and the less “desirables” @ 50% I blew that method of income off immediately. I don’t kiss up or treat anyone different for now price I’m of the REAL bor in the Bronx Irish clan :)
    Hope all is well

@John- I like your style and I agree all bloggers (people) should be treated equally. I did not know there was a caste system in place at Izea..

@Dana- I did not Nick was doing this, I will stop over and check it out. Thanks for lwtting me know.

ps- I will follow up this post in a month or so and let you all know how this is going. Ironically, I received 4 more sign ups for Sponsored Tweets since yesterday as a result of this post. I was hoping that would happen :-)

Don’t you think, that it’s kinda early yet to make money from your blog in so many ways?

I mean that you could have gathered much more subscribers..

But don’t listen to me, maybe I’m wrong.

Sounds like a good idea to me. If other people can make money off of it, so can you.

Nope. Selling directly is always the best choice. But you need to be famous first before advertiser can find you. So you need 3rd party on the beginning. ;)
