Promote your blog- what are your top 3 ways?

When it comes to blogging, there are 2 basic elements. Write great content and promote your blog. Sounds simple enough, but we all know that it takes a lot of time and effort to do both. On Tycoon Blogger, I write a lot of posts about promoting your blog and new things I am trying out in regards to blog promotion. I have tried dozens of blog marketing ideas and have identified my top 3 most effective blog promotion techniques. Here they are:
- Twitter – Twitter has become my best and only constant social media tool that I use to promote my blog. I do not have a ton of followers, but most of my followers are bloggers and I have a high click through rate per tweet. I also have a small (but very strong) network of other bloggers that are kind enough to Retweet me.
- Blog Commenting – This technique takes a lot of time and energy but can be very effective. I have a list of several hundred blogs that have comment luv installed and try to stop by and comment regulary.
- Adgitize - I know some of you may be surprised that Adgitize made my top 3, but I can not deny the traffic data. Every day I get between 50-75 visits from this source and I have figured out a way to recoup the cost of advertising, so it is free traffic. Some may say that this is not quality traffic, but I disagree. Every one who visits from this source is a blogger and this is my target audience. I also think Adgitize has helped my Alexa rank dip below 50k.

I agree with you that Adgitize is really really helpful. When I sign up as an Advertiser in Adgitize last month, my traffic really increased and my Alexa Ranking from 500K it became 200K in just one month. But now it’s a bit expensive and I don’t know if I will advertise again using Adgitize.
You should also include Entrecard on the list because it’s also a traffic booster

I use Twitter, comment on other blogs and mingle with others. I guess not much promoting is done, I could do more.

If you want to build lots of link then comment on dofollow blog is great work. But if you want to get traffic from twitter then you have to increase your twitter follower.

I think guest posts is probably a VERY important one. There is nothing better than stealing someone’s already establish traffic and drive it back to your post/blog.
I’ve only done one so far, but I going to do more and see what happens.

My 3 main ways of promoting my blog currently are commenting on blogs, Twittering and participating in forums. Also little bit of social bookmarking does help in promoting the blog.

I would say the most traffic i get is from EntreCard but for sure it’s also the most time-consuming activity to reach this amount (up to 2 hours) but in exchange i get around 250 – 300 visitors from them.

Third rank are the drop lists from Not John Chow and Trader’s Hub and blog commenting.

I think commenting on related blogs is a good way to get a bit of traffic. You get a free backlinks as well and all the traffic is targeted as well.

Twitter is the best way for promoting your blog. But the bounce rate is also pretty high from twitter traffic in my case at least. But traffic wise its at No 1………

I think the number one way to promote your blog is write great unique content. And then let others help you promote because they found it worthwhile.
Of course, one tactic alone isn’t as effective as several together. Commenting on blogs can be effective. But I think you have to provide useful comments not just a bunch of meaningless comments.

Submit your blog to various blog directories. Another easy and fun way is to simply promote it through your social network accounts like Facebook and Twitter. I’m sure a lot of your friends and relatives would love to check it out.

I’m starting to experience that the promotion on twitter is lot more effective. But it needs lots of interested and cooperative followers. I’m still collecting followers who are interested in blogging and promoting niche.
Apart from twitter and face book, I found TrekAdvertising too useful, though it costs money but its not expensive.
But the most useful and effective way of promoting blogs is commenting itself for somebody who is working on blogging and promoting niche because here everybody you will find are bloggers mostly.
