Promote your blog to new readers

I am thrilled with the daily readers I have here on Tycoon Blogger.  The regular readers are the lifeblood on any thriving blog community.  I have been thinking of how I can crack the 300 visitors per day mark that seems to be the pattern of my blog lately.  The conclusion that I came to is that I need to promote my blog to new readers.  I have devised a plan that will target 3 areas that I hope will result in increased readers to my blog.  I will be tracking this throughout August and will provide the results at the end of the month.

Here are the three areas that I will be focused on.

  1. Social Media- I wrote a post last week about why I stopped using Digg to promote my blog.  For the upcoming month I will be promoting my blog via Mixx, Blog Engage, and Twittley.
  2. Guest Posting- I will be looking to do at least one guest post per week on blogs that are outside of the normal circles that I congregate in.  Here is a blog post about the benefits of guest blogging.
  3. Advertising- This is the area that I will be most aggressively pursuing this coming month.  I have been happy with Adgitize and can expect about 60 visitors per day.  I have never really advertised heavily on Entrecard, but I am going to heavily market via Entrecard in August.  Expect to see my badge everywhere (kind of like the Ad Master)  I am also looking for other blogs that I can advertise on.  I have sold several ad slots this month and I am going to take that money and invest it back into my blog.  I am also looking into other advertising venues, possibly Facebook.

    You can buy ones that plug into your usb, these are the easiest to use. Some dont require software as windows xp and vista have a lot of drivers built into the operating system.

    The important thing is that you have a PLAN, which is always a great thing. Most bloggers just think if they write it, people will come… but, as millions of unread blogs will testify, you need to PROMOTE your content.

    I just wondering, I show in my computer that you have Alexa ranking 50K. This is good ranking. but you said your blog’s traffic still not yet reach 300. How come?

    That is great! I am oing to try some of those as well, I just started my blog and am up to 20 hits a day (i know I have a long way to go) my other site Quickhomesforsale.com is doing a lot better with 100 a day! I am trying to really do the same and promote the sites….

    I’m not involved in social networking these days, I just submitted a guest post to a relevant niche blog last week. Seems that you’re doing good with Adgitize Dan, does the traffic from Adgitize converted well or do they stay on your blog? I’m going to take a look on this.

    My blog has yet to crack the 300 daily visitor line, I’m trying to hit it in 2-3months time. Awaiting for your traffic updates. :)

    One more thing try twitter use your part of your time tweeting god stuff and connecting with engagers. I have seen these help a lot and can increase traffic to your site. It is same as you do in blogging

    @Pozycjonowanie – I agree that with out aggressive marketing your posts will never be read no matter how good they are. Everyday I read great posts on blogs that get little traffic and then i read crappy posts on blogs that get a ton of traffic (John Chow)

    Yes, the web marketing is so important nowadays – even more important than things you write about! It’s the world we live in – the promotion is something much more profitable than filling with interesting articles. And many tools of making a site even more and more popular are just generating traffic that is something artificial. Natural based traffic would be generated of people who are just trying to read something interesting for them. But this way we have a lot of popular blogs and full of spammy posts. I don’t mean this one ;) this one is ok, but referring to your article I had to write this.
