Get more targeted followers on Twitter

We are all looking to increase our our followers on Twitter.  As many of my readers know I have two Twitter accounts that I use.  I have one for this blog @tycoonblogger and about 2 weeks ago I started a new Twitter account @followyou2.  I have been conducting a little experiment where I have been trying to grow my tycoonblogger account solely through promoting it here on my blog at the end of posts and in the sidebar.  I am up to 350+ followers.  My other account was started a little over 2 weeks ago and at last count I am over 2,300 followers.  If this pace keeps up I will be over 10,000 followers in 30 days.  This is no where close to Ashton but it is not to shabby for 2 weeks.  I can already here people saying, “There is no benefit in the sheer number of followers, it is more important to have targeted followers.”  I couldn’t agree more, that is why I am looking to get as many target followers that I can.  Luckily for me, my target audience is huge.  I am targeting other bloggers, Internet marketers, social media fans,etc..

Today I discovered a cool new tool for Twitter that will help you gain more targeted followers.  The site is called Tweet Penguin and it is a free tool that helps you find people with common interests.  The site is similar to a chain mail where you follow those in front of you and then people that come in later will follow you.  Again, the cool part is that you select your interests and you only follow people who share those interests.

   I personally find it bit useless having thousands of followers who are non responsive, and don’t even know if you have tweeted or not!
