One of the major frustrations that bloggers have had with Entrecard is the poor management and lack of customer support for bloggers. It has been a little over a week since the new ownership has taken over and I am personally impressed with the changes and direction they are moving in. In case you are not a member or if you are and have not been paying attention, here are the two major changes that have taken place so far.
- They got rid of the paid advertising. This was the biggest frustration and drove hundreds of bloggers from the service. The bottom line is that it was truly unfair to the bloggers and the new management obviously recognized that and made a move to put an end to it.
- Fix the Marketplace- In my post last week when I wrote about the sale of Entrecard, I mentioned that improving the marketplace should be a top priority. Cindy Ung, who is the “face” of the new EC Management, must have read my blog post because that is exactly what is happening. They are moving towards using the forum as the marketplace to exchange credits for services. This makes a lot of sense as you can easier find what you are looking for and advertise your services. It is so much easier that you have to wonder what Graham was thinking smoking when he designed the original marketplace. They also implemented the iTrader system which is common on many other webmaster blogs like Digital Point and V7N. If you are not familiar, with iTrader, it is a point system where you can rate the buyer or seller after the transaction. Obviously, the more points, the more trust you can have doing a transaction with that party. I can say that I used the system and it is working well, I already made 6,000 credits today and I have received a lot of hits on my blog contest site by advertising it in the contest section. As part of the improvements in the marketplace, thay also increased the amount of credits you can transfer from 1,000 to 25,000. I am very happy about that because that is the exact amount I will be transfering the the first place winner on my Entrecard Contest. Great segue, huh…If you are interested in entering the contest- click this link - Daily Blog Contest

The new changes seem to be cool, at least our screams are not falling on deaf ears, lol.
As much as I like the changes, it will take time to get use to.

Smart move!! the new owner of the EC seem to be working really great. the few changes they have brought about has made the members more relaxed and looking forward to keep up their relation with the company. these user friendly changes has certainly made all the skepticism regarding new owner to the rest!!

I was always worried that the take over would be worse, but it does seems that what we’ve all been screaming about over the last few months is actually coming to fruition.

Good to know that they got rid of the advertisement. I didn’t like it a single bit.

Hey Dan… I have never use Entrecard or checked out their site. I really have no idea how it works, so I think it is something I should spend part of my weekend researching. Thanks!

Like Doug, I have not yet tried Entrecard. But I already been studying it for considering to use the system in my blog in the future. Thanks for the update and information. It seems that Entrecard is going to be outstanding.

Really? I’ve been out of touch from Entrecard for so long (because I was really frustrated on how the original management implemented new things). I’m glad every thing’s seems to be sailing smooth right now.
About the EC market, I have totally left my listings in there. Seems like I have to catch up ow then.
Thanks for the update, I wouldn’t have known if it wasn’t for you Dan

Seems like a great move. I am still using EC on some of my blogs but I pretty much abandoned it primarily due to the high bounce rate it was generating. While it is good for Alexa, I am not sure if all I want is for people to “drop and go”. I know you will say that the blog must be compelling and all. I agree, but this does not seem to be working well, I presume.
Anyway, thanks for the update. I know graham has sold EC to ZipRunner (I think) and have not been too keen on seeing what changed. Will check the marketplace.

Yes, I also moved away from Entrecard almost a year back because their customer support wasn’t taking actions on my problems. They did solved my prob. little bit sometimes but it again got in the olden days after some time. So I thought to dump it and create my own ways of bringing traffic.

I don’t know what Graham was doing. He drove all the A-list blogger away. He started banning blogs that haven’t updated in 3 months. Hopeful, the new owners would make it better.
