Blog Comments = Link Juice and Free Promotion

As a follow up to my blog post several days ago about how to reward you blog commentators , I wanted to let you all know that I have reset my top commentators widget and will be tracking the top commentators per month.  If you are in the top 8 spots, you will receive link juice.  If you are the #1 commentator, you will receive a free ad spot to display your 125×125 banner on the sidebar for the following month.  This is a $25 value!!

Let the commenting begin.

Don’t forget that I have keywordluv installed so please use your real name and then after the “@” symbol type in your keywords.  Please do not use your keywords as your name.

Of course, I will be deleting all comments like -”great post, keep it up” or “I really like your blog”

Check back in later on today, I will be posting a great interview as part of the Saturday “Blogger Spotlight” series.

Tomorrow, I will be posting the “Sunday’s Best” feature that highlights the top 10 blog posts from the past week in the “Blogs about Blogging” niche.

On Monday, I will posting the the top commentators and top Entrecard droppers for July as well as providing some stats regarding Tycoon Blogger for the past month.

    Keywordluv is a great plugin. I am to the point where I will rarely leave a comment while surfing blogs unless keywordluv is available. Thanks for the luv!

    That sounds like a good idea. I’ve seen a couple other blogs that do that and people seem to like it Well not the ad space thing but the monthly list of top commentators.

    Top commentator gets a free ad space, wou I am seeing this for the first time, good idea. Contest and prizes always gets people moving, I really have to implement the same strategy more often :)

    I totally agree, its far much better than link exchange as its one way, also one can get many links with least effort, however moderation is required not to allow spam and abuse of this technique.

    Hey Dan, rewarding commentators with back links; and on top of that, a free ad space will certainly encourage more people to take part in the blog discussions; but again it depends how relevant the comments are. People will do try to take advantage of this offer, which is more of a contest,in the meantime, it may trigger spamming and stuff like that…
    However, commenting is an integral part of blogging especially, if you are trying to build a long term relationship with your visitors. And allowing users to make quality and relevant comments will definitely foster the relationship…

    Seems like where ever I go Doug and Deniel are there. Especially if the blog article is about commenting. Okay that just tell me I have no way of winning this contest.

    I am commenting anyways because I learn commenting is a good way to build your blog network so I started commenting to blog articles that’s interesting just like this one now.

    My suggestion would be instead of telling it here, you create a comment policy page and do some modifications in your comment.php file so that you can list a link to the comment policy there and readers can read it if they don’t know it before comment it.

    Dan Keller, I actually installed the “top commentators” plugin yesterday because of your article. Currently I have it just set to display top commentators “all time”, but maybe I should consider doing it on a monthly basis too – no contest though, but still link juice for top 5.

    Haha, seems that many people are doing reward to the top commenter, this is actually a great way to get more people to comment in your blog. In fact, I’ve written an article about blog commenting strategies too. I used to love commenting in blogs these days. :D
