Several bloggers that I follow recently dropped their Entrecard widgets and I must admit that I have been thinking about doing the sale.
If you are a bloggers and do not know what Entrecard is all about, here is a post I wrote a year ago that will bring you up to speed;
Promote your blog with Entrecard
I have been very critical of Entrecard (you can read those posts in the related posts section at the end of this post) over the past year and I was going to drop my widget and have a contest to give away my remaining credits. I just went over to look at my analytics to see what Entrecard has been doing for me lately. I was a bit surprised bu the numbers, it was not as bad as I thought. In fact Entrecard still brings in over 300 a month (when combined with the referrals from MyBloggerTricks.com “Buckets”.) This is way less than in the past when I would get 300 visits in 2 or 3 days, but at that time I was active in the community. I currently just have the widget on my blog and that is all.
Let me get to the point, I will be keeping the widget a while longer. The reason is based on the average time spent stat that I just looked at. The avereage visitor from EC spent over one minute on my blog. This is half the normal amount but this tells me that visitors from EC are actually reading my content and not just doing a drop and run.

I also dropped my EC widget months ago and just gave my credits away to my top droppers at that stage. I’m sure you were one of them, not sure as it was a long time ago.

This is a simple contest for those that stop by from Entrecard, I am trying to get little more out of Entrecard by putting a little something into it. I will be having a much bigger contest in the near future.
I still use Entre Card, I don’t like to go and drop, it take to much time. I do like advertisements though. But Ebuckets works and was planning to set that up. I get about about 25 hits a month, I bet I could raise my monthly hits if I was more active. Eventually I will drop the system but for now it is not hurting me and it has gotten me several new regular readers.

Its hard to make a decision on entrecard. There’s really so much negative feedback about them out there. You sure its worth your efforts?
@will@laser hair removal, That’s just it Will, it does not take me any effort at all. All I do is have the widget up. I do think it is worth it, already today I am seeing a spike in traffic and I am seeing new readers as well. Just in this comment section, I have 4 people who are leaving a comment for the first time.
I never used EC for traffic. I did and still do think it is one of the best places to EASILY pick like minded bloggers in any niche you can think of…just about.
I’m not back on Twitter yet, but am already subscribed.
I really wish I had my EC contest blog up and running already. lol

Long ago I use entrecard, but it is really very time consuming for dropping a card. So I now do not use entrecard.
I agree you with you on your point. It really do not matter where you place the widget as long as you are active dropping. I sometimes noticed that some of those who put their widget above the fold have become complacent and were a little confident that since they’ll be getting many drops anyway, they are not dropping back.
Nice contest, I don’t use entrecard any more because my bounce rate skyrocketed. If my topic was seo I probable would have done better because that would be a topic most of them are interested in.
