There are a couple of things the tool picked out that I can make some quick improvements on.  For example, half of my images are missing their alt attributes.  I could also benefit from some .gov and some .edu backlinks (If you know where I can get some, let me know )

Overall, I was pretty pleased with my score.  Tycoon Blogger was rated 56.6.

Here is a quick summary of my thoughts so far.  There are only a handful or bloggers signed on so far but the ones that I checked out are of the highest quality.  This site and idea have a ton of potential and I think in a couple of months this will blow up.  I am excited to be involved at the ground floor.

The site does share a monthly membership fee but they are offering the first 1,000 bloggers that sign up free membership for life.  Additionally, they will be using a profit sharing model where the original member will be able to share in the profits that are generated from the monthly membership fees.

Later this week, I will be writing my first couple of buzz posts and then I will write my seed post.  I like to give a little before I take.  All in all, the site is very impressive so far and I think will benefit my blog by exposing me to a new blogging community.  Of course, the added targeted traffic and the back links are great as well.

The site is very selective as they are trying to keep the quality super high.  If you are a serious blogger and looking for a great new way to promote your blog for free then I encourage you to sign up.  When you sign up, make sure that you put my blog name ” TycoonBlogger” in the referral field.

I have actually been thinking a lot about changing up my site and switching up my header and actually getting a more professional looking logo.  I actually really like the lettering of my logo but not sure that I am crazy about the “character” anymore.  I have been thinking about a new theme as well, I just can’t decide between Thesis and Headway.

Due to the fact that web design and logos were on my mind, it was ironic that I was approached today to write a review for a leading logo design company called LogoBee.  Chances are good that you are familiar with this company as they are one of the most visible around the web.  One thing that struck me when I visited their site (besides their killer logo designs) was the fact that they have been in business for 10 years and have worked with over 10,000 clients.  To me that says a lot.  You know they will be around to provide support and have the credibility to stand behind their work.

I must admit that I have not used LogoBee (yet) but I am very impressed with their work.  Check out some of these logos:

Let me start by saying that this is not a review because I just signed up today and my application is still under review.  Of course, I will be following up this post and letting you know how everything is going if/when I am up and running.

Here is the concept:

When you are accepted you join a community of quality bloggers that are looking to network and promote their blog.

You start off by planting a seed.  This is done by telling other bloggers about your post and then inviting them to follow up on the post on their blog and link back to you.

When you carry on the post on your site, it is called Buzz.  When you write a buzz post, you get credits that you can use for your next seed post.

I hope this wasn’t confusing with all the seeds and buzzing, but it is a very simple concept really.  It appears to be a win-win situation and can really be a great way to promote your blog.

Several other readers have asked this over the past several months and I figured I would respond here in a post rather that in the comment section.

The functionality that allows me to display the number of comments a commentator has contributed is actually bundled into the “Do Follow” Plugin that I am using.

The plugin I am using is called NOFF , which stands for “No Follow Free” , besides the cool option of displaying the number of comments someone has added, this plugin offer several other options.  For example, you can set the amount of comments that someone has to reach before their comments become do follow.  FYI, I have recently set the number to 4.  This allows me to still be part of the do follow movement but helps me eliminate spam and stop the “drive by” comments.

Even if you want to remain a non do follow blog, you can still use this plugin to display the number of comments.  You can simply set the threshold number to a number that nobody can ever attain, like 5,ooo comments.

How can I get more Blog Traffic from Google ?

I wanted to share a very simple tip that I have been using successfully for the last couple of months.  I actually discovered this tip by looking deeper into my Google Analytics on my Career Advice Blog .  What I found was that a large percentage of traffic that came from Google was from keyword phrases that started with “How” or “Why” or “Can” or “What”.  The reality is that many people use Google because they have a question that they are looking to have answered.

What I have started to do is actually write my blog post title is the form of a question.  For example, this blog post on Career CoPilot is getting me some respectable constant traffic over the past month:

I was a bit surprised that Google views Tycoon Blogger as an authority when it comes to Twitter Follower Tools, but instead of question it, I have decided to embrace it and will continue to write posts about Twitter Tools that help Manage your Followers.

With that being said, I wanted to share with you a new Twitter Tool that I discovered called Locafollow .  Locafollow is an easy to use Twitter app that makes it easy for you to locate Twitter users by searching on their profile and location fields.

The thing that is cool about this app is the fact that they use Google to search on text that appears in close proximity to the bio and location fields.  This is a major advantage over Twitters current search capabilities.

Locafollow competes in a competitive and ever growing niche of twitter follower apps, which includes Twellow and Tweepsearch, but has some unique advantages that will allow them to carve out their own following.

For one, Locafollow use Oauth so you do not need to give up your password.  Additionally, the user interface is simpler and shows more detail than the other sites.  Also, you have to love the bulk follow option.

If you are looking to grow your Twitter network and looking to go local, Locafollow is worth checking out.

I don’t know about you but when I read blogs I often times enjoy the blog comments more that the actual content of the post.  The comment section is where you get to read about additional information and differing opinions on the blog topic.  It is also a great place to discover new blogs as well.  If I read a good comment, I usually click on the name and pay a visit to that blog and see what it is all about.  When I first started blogging several years back I only read the blog posts and then dropped my comment and went on my merry way.  As I have gained more experience as a blogger I know read the post and pay particularly close attention to each and every blog comment along the way.  In fact, I usually enjoy the comments more than the actual post.

That is why I thought it was so cool when I saw the new project that John Sullivan has started.  The new blog is called Comment Drop and it is a very cool and unique concept.

Basically, the focus of the blog is on the comments and not the post.  Each day a simple question is posted and then is opened up for discussion.  Of course, this is useful for link building as John is the self proclaimed Do Follow King, so you know the comments are do follow with keyword luv.

Most successful bloggers understand the importance of adding their personality to their blog.  Have you ever wondered what your blog says about you and your personality?  If so, there is a very cool site that I discovered that will tell you what your blogs personality is.

I am actually pretty close to making my first $50, which is the threshold to trigger a payout, and that is why I was a little upset when I  logged into my account today and saw this:

Apparently, I missed out on making $17, which is not a huge amount but I would still like to have that in my PayPal account right now.

Pay Attention

I missed out on these opportunities simply because the opportunity passed by without me knowing about it.  I had my notifications set to alert me via Direct Message on Twitter.  The problem is that I very rarely check my DMs, mostly because it is usually filled with spam.  I figure if anyone wants to communicate with me they will hit me up with a @tycoonblogger rather than a DM.  As you can imagine, I switched my notification preference to alert me via email.  Hopefully, this will help me capitalize on these opportunities when they arise.  So far so good, just today I was notified of 2 opportunities.
