When to monetize your blog

If you have been reading this blog from the start, you know that the theme is how to make money blogging or more accurately how much money can I  make?  Can I make 6 figures? How long will it take me to reach that threshold?  You may be wondering why you do not see any ads on my site.  How the heck can I  make money without running ads?

There are two schools of thought on when to start monetizing your blog.  Some people start on day one while others wait at least 3 months or until they have a certain amount of readers.  I have decided to wait until I have at least 30 quality posts before experimenting with ads.  So do not get used to seeing no ads here, believe me they will be coming.

On a side note, I wanted to provide a quick update on how things are going.  I am seeing a slow steady growth in the number of daily visitors but nothing significant yet.  Yesterday was my best day with 48 unique visitors.  This is no where near where I want to be, but I realize that I am just starting out and this blog is less than 2 weeks old.  I am looking for steady growth and the one thing I have going for me is perseverance and patience.   For the next 2 weeks I will be focused on writing quality posts and update you on what I am doing with my blog.

I think many things that used to work are no longer effective. One needs very large traffic and then things will convert.

I went at it after 20 posts. I just went with the adsense approach with reasonable results nothing to fabulous. I think it is strange though, I was a webmaster years ago and stopped. Just recently I decided to give it another attempt and when I got online and dug back into the webmaster world I found blogging something I have never even heard of. Now I have two blogs which help me make money as well as my website. I don’t know, but now adays if you want to make money online whether it be through a website or forum you need a blog that is constantly updated. I think it is a good thing though to wait a while before you begin with placing ads on your site. 30 posts definatly seems resonable.
