Last week I wrote a post about how to use Twitter to increase traffic. Today I want to talk about how you can use Twitter to get your creative juices flowing and get new ideas for content. Just this past week I have heard scores of people talk about Twitter, from Ellen DeGeneres to Jay Leno and even my Dad was talking about it. This was my signal that Twitter has indeed reached the masses. Most bloggers know that Twitter is a great traffic source but I have been using it often for blogging ideas, especially for my green jobs blog. Here are some ideas on how to utilize Twitter to help you write your next blog post.
· Tweet a question- I used this strategy just yesterday on my green jobs blog. I simply asked my followers what they are seeing in regards to green jobs. When they replied with their views and impressions, I asked if I could use their insights on my blog. I wrote a post by compiling their answers and adding my own commentary. I then followed up and tweeted the link to the post. My traffic numbers were huge that day.
· Ask for interviews- I have also used this strategy effectively on my career blog. I reached out to my followers and asked if anybody would be willing to give me an interview about the hiring trends in their company. I received over a dozen positive responses and I interviewed a VP of Hr of a renewable energy company about their hiring plans for the year. This was a win-win because the company received a lot of traffic and good candidates from the exposure and I got a great post.
· Use the search function- I was Twittering for months before I knew that Twitter had search functionality, now I can’t live without it. Several weeks ago I wrote a great post about the Powershift Conference in Washington by searching what other people were saying about it.
I would love to hear how you are using Twitter to add value to your blog.
I love comments and they are “do follow.”

I started my twitter account a month ago and I am almost up to 2,000 followers. What I find helpful is tweeting often so my followers don’t consider me a spammer then when I update my blog I make sure to tweet about it. I really don’t think I will reach the full potential of twitter until I reach 10k followers. I feel somewhat lazy since twitter is the only social networking site I am using currently, I really should have my site on my space and face book to build a true base of readers the work though seems overwhelming. For the past few months I have been spending 12-16 hours daily either reading, promoting, or updating my site and blogs and after each day I always feel that I have not done enough though I am close to becoming a contender in my niche I still think that with the time that I have put in I should be a dominator. I guess that is what I get from choosing the make money niche huh? Anyway good post will be looking forward to your new posts.
