We all like a good debate every now and again. It seems that in the technology/blogging tips niche there are certain topics that we as bloggers have strong opinions about. For me, reading about how bloggers feel about certain things is very entertaining to me. I know I am not alone, over the past few weeks I have observed that the blog posts that receive the most comments are posts that take a side on one of the long standing debates that exist in the blog-o-sphere. Take for example the post I wrote last week about the do follow vs. no follow debate . That post generated an awesome exchange of comments and is up over 60 comments currently. This places it in the top 5 posts in terms of popularity (comments not page views) of all time for Tycoon Blogger. Based on this observation, I thought it would be fun to really dig in and take a look at the top 10 things that bloggers debate about. This will be an ongoing mini-series here where I will blog about one topic each week. I will explore both sides of the debates and offer up the most compelling arguments given by fellow bloggers. I will also share my views and take a side and explain my thought process. I will then ask you all where you stand on the issues and I am hoping to have a vibrant back and forth within the comment section.
Here are the 10 topics that I will be writing about:
Topics Bloggers Debate About
- Do follow versus no follow
- Thesis theme versus Headway theme
- Ads or not
- Sponsored Posts or not
- Blogger versus WordPress
- Best Blog Ad Network – (Entrecard, Adgitive, CMF, etc..)
- Twitter or Facebook – which is better for blog promotion
- Make money on Twitter
- Does Alexa rating matter?
- Does Page Rank matter

Ouch its pretty nice to say that we do have an debate. And dude the more possible thing is that “DO WE HAVE TO COMMENT AT Others BLOGS” which also makes the bloggers to meet for there social needs about the debate.

I can clear two of these up right now:
DoFollow
Facebook
I’m so far away from even debating the other side of those two topics.
Great list, anyway bloggers debate about like 100 and one things everything is debatable if you have a reason to debate it people will.
.-= Fairy tail episodes´s last blog ..Fairy Tail episode 28 =-.
You have mentioned very interesting topics. There are so many good blogs continue to remain do follow, as there are benefits in terms of visibility and extended readership.
I will check out about Thesis theme versus Headway theme… haven’t heard of this before.
I have heard of all of those except the Thesis vs Headway one, I never even heard of the Headway theme.
I am in the pro dofollow camp.

Hey.. That is cool topics.
I undoubtedly agree with you.
Looking for the debate. Moreover, most of the webmaster and blogger are using blog to promote there website/blog one way or the other and also, lots of people are interested in how to use dofollow and nofollow blog to get better PR.
Just found this blog and it goes to my reader. I love it.
Anyway, some of these topics are debatable but can be easily resolved if you ask the blogger WHY he or she blogs. If we are able to clarify that, then I believe things will become clearer. But those are very good points for debate since there will be no universal answer.
Building links through directories also courses debate, as many webmasters feel directories are waste of time, so still believe and even advise that its a cheap way of gaining additional backlinks.
Just like that. Same theme runs through all the blogs. I think it is necessary to introduce some innovation and research on new developments….
@Sanela, any suggestions?
Looking forward to participate in a debate for all the items on your list. I am particularly interested in the Thesis theme versus Headway theme and blogger vs wordpress ones. Fire away Dan.

True to your word, the blog posts that receive the most comments are those posts that revolve around the debates existing in the blog-o-sphere. All the topics that you have mentioned are interesting. I wished for some freshness. Never mind! I’m sure your articles will bring in a lot of honest views and opinions. However, your comments on each of these topics would make an interesting read.
I think I’m guilty of doing a few of these myself
But they certainly seem to be topics that bring in readers

I remember, that Darren Rowse has written some similar post on this topic
Oh.. and Alex (from Blogussion) ran “Design Versus Week” several days ago, where he had compared a lot of stuff, that bloggers debate about.
I’d added things like:
- To display “related post or not”;
- To display tags or tag cloud or not;
- To use widgets like Twitter widget, FB fan box, Google Friend Connect widget or not and so on and so forth
Anyways, we should decide by ourselves what fits our blogs the most. And very often only time can show it…

After reading the “follow versus no follow” topic, I have realized that it cannot be really judged which one to opt for. One will always be confused what really benefits the blog. The topic I found the most interesting would be Facebook vs twitter as I feel both of these have marked a deep impression into the lives of the people making it very challenging for them to beat each other.
the top 10 hot topics of debate are listed here
now may be website speed matters or not for search engine ranking would be a topic of debate
