When I first started blogging in 2007, comment luv was one of the first plugins that I installed and I truly believe that it helped establish this blog and gain an audience sooner rather than later. I was able to interact with like minded bloggers and because of the comments and the fact I felt like I wasn’t blogging in a vacuum this helped me to push ahead and keep blogging.
I have written many posts over the years about increasing comments on your blog. Here are a couple:
7 ways to Reward your blog readers
I truly believe that the comment luv plugin is the single one thing that will have the most impact on increasing comments and engagement which will lead to traffic and conversions.
Since September I have been reading the buzz around the blogosphere from some of my blogging buddies like Hisham and Ditesco and deciced that Comment Luv Premium is just way to cool and useful to ignore.
For me, installing CommentLuv + is the first step for me to get more serious about blogging. Over the past year I have not focused as much on my blogging projects because I have been busy with several other online ventures. Those ventures are cruising on auto pilot now and I want to get back into blogging big time and I want to bring this blog to the top in the “helping small business and entrepreneurs through blogging and social media niche.”
I will be getting back on the commenting circuit and reacquainting myself with old friends and meeting new folks who have jumped into this space over the past year.
The best part of Comment Luv premium from my perspective is the built in incentives for readers to leave a comment. I have tweaked my settings so if the reader wants a do follow link they must either Tweet, Like or Plus my post. This also plays into anoher blogging goal I had for this year which was to get more focused on social media, specifically maximizing Google Plus.
Another awesome feature is the antispam technology that is built into the plugin. This works to eliminate bot spam by adding a box that must be checked to confirm you are not a spammer. This box uses javascript and bots suck at reading javascrit so this will work to eliminate almost all the bots out there. Just yesterday, Andy added some features that combat human spam. You can now set how many words a post must be, eliminating the “nice post bro” type of comment. You can also set a certain amount of time that they must spend on the site before they can comment. . This will eliminate those punks who just come in go right for the comments and preload one in and press send. This will not work on my blog as I set the time for 30 seconds about how long it would take to read my posts.
I can go on and on about all the features but it would be best for you to get it straight from the horses mouth.
Here is a link (aff) to the Comment Luv Premium page. Watch the video and see if it is right for your blog.
Oh, and don’t forget to leave me a comment.
That’s a really good move. I am sure comments will start pouring in. My best wishes
I like linkluv because it serves two purposes. One it gives the reader/commenter a way to promot keywords and two it creates traffic to a blog that instills a genuine tool for spreading interest in various topics.
This is very interesting and I am contemplating putting it on my own blog, however I worry about leaking SEO juice with so many linking to a new-ish blog like my own? What are your thoughts son this?
Hi Rebecca, Thanks for visiting. The only thing that would potentially leak is Page Rank and even that is not proven. I do not think linking out affects SEO at all.
Commentluv premium has great benefits specially the ability of making links dofollow and nofollow and encouraging sharing on social media. Works great.
Thanks for the post Dan. I have seen CommentLuv in a much larger quantity of sites over the past few months, it must really be getting traction. It makes sense if you think about it, sort of a give and take for the author and the reader leaving the comment. I shut off the comments on my own site for the same reason you mentioned above, I may have to give it another shot.
It is definitely worth it in my opinion. The spam filter is awesome. I am not exaggerating when I say that no spam comments get through.
That’s a really good move. I am sure comments will start pouring in. My best wishes
thanks. so far so good
The only things is every once in a while I will have to check my spam folders because some good comments get caught up in there sometimes.
I use comment luv on my blog, I think its a great way to gain traffic on your blog and interact with your viewers.
I am considering adding comment luv to my blog. Do you find you get a lot of spam comments since you have started?
Actually it was very the much the opposite. The spam features on CL premium are best in class. Everything that has come through so far has been legit. The only things is every once in a while I will have to check my spam folders because some good comments get caught up in there sometimes.
Good to see you on board had my copy long and love it it really worth the price Andy has done a great Job
Agreed! Now if I can only get a couple of affiliate sales to recoup my purchase price
Welcome aboard Dan, glad you finally took the dive and are reaping the rewards.
I LOVE CommentLuv and I love the premium version even better. Bless Andy’s heart for always trying to give back to the blogging world and I swear he has the best plug-in ever. There are some I can’t do without and CommentLuv premium is at the top of that list.
Best investment you’ll ever make. Congratulations…
Welcome back to blogging and hope you enjoy your week.
~Adrienne
Thanks for visiting Adrienne. I think Andy has outdone himself this time. I can’t wait to see what he has in store for the future.
Thanks for the great advice! I am your newest subscriber, just posted my first blog this week and am looking forward to learning so much from you! If you get a chance, stop over at my blog and let me know what you think!! Kari
Thanks Kari for stopping by and subscribing. I will stop by your place soon and check it out.
Hi Dan,
Comment Luv Premium is very nice. The anti-spam for human’s is really cool. I think I’ll have to steal your DoFollow idea of putting this above the comment form, very cleaver indeed.
Hope to see you more around the blogosphere.
Take care,
Evelyn
Hi Evelyn,
Thanks for visiting. I actually set my timer for 20 seconds, I figured this would be the average time it would take for someone to actually read my post before racing off to post a comment. The human anti-spam in genius.
See you around!
Cool. Those anti spam features sound really nice. I get lots of bot posts on my blog.
I am loving this on other blogs and would like to get it for my own blog. But that will have to wait a bit while I save up some money…unless you know of anyone giveing away a copy?
That would sure enough be a great prize! People are having giveaways for Kindles…so why not software?
Elle,
The spam features are working great so far! I actually searched for contest giveaways and also for promo codes and could find neither. I agree, this would be a great contest give away. I wouldn’t be surprised if Andy has something up his sleeve already.
Yup, I’m loving the new anti-human spam features… I was getting frustrated having to police so many bots and brain dead humans who left non sensical comments that I seriously considered (for a second) to close comments… so great timing on Andy’s side.
Still, no spam filters are perfect but this feature has helped a lot
It’s funny that you mentioned that because on my career blog, I actually did shut the comments down because the spam was out of control. I have not gotten around to installing CL premium over there but I will shortly.
Gee Dan, took your time mate. :;)
I got on the band wagon right from the beginning and it is one of the best blogging investments I’ve ever made.
Here’s another cool feature for premium members; at the end of my comment you will see the little commentluv heart…hover your mouse over it and be amazed. Only happens to premium member comments.
Wow, that is a cool feature..I just commented over at your place and checked it out. very cool!
Isn’t it just? You have to admit it’s the best form of advertising out. All you have to do is comment on a heap of blogs and if your comment is interesting and someone hovers over that heart, and commentluv people will do that, they’re presented with a great sales page.
Thanks for stopping by Holly. I noticed it is not working too but I thought it was just because it was on my own blog. I will have to look into this..thanks for letting me know.
Yeah, that would be right. I try to show people one of the many features and it just doesn’t work. Just my luck.
