One of my biggest pet peeves when reading other people’s blogs is when they have no “about me” page or if the “about me” page is poorly written. The absolute worst thing is when they keep the default page, they lose all credibility with me at that point. I am a week into this blog and have been bust adding daily content, today I took time out to construct my “about me” page (check it out, I am pretty interesting!) I recommend that you do this in the first couple of days after starting your blog and certainly before an influx of readers start coming in.
Here are some tips on writing a killer “about me” page:
In my opinion, having a good “about me” page is one of the best ways to turn surfers into loyal readers and afterall that is what we are looking for, right?
Let me know if I am missing anything..
Agree, writing the About Me Page sometimes is tricky. Especially for people who are not natural writers! The best thing is to simply be honest.
Your blog is very helpful, I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time here as I develop my own blog!
Hi!
I’m all new to blogging, and find your tips really helpful! One thing I would love to know though, is: How do you get your own domain? I would love to be able to make let’s say a “about me” page, but as far as I know, blogger (by google) doesn’t let me do that..
Thanks in advance
The about page is very important.
When people read a great post from a blog they want to find out where the post came from. They want to check you out.And that leads them to your about page.

That are some really nice tips. I just got to add my pic on my about page and then it will be fully completed according to this post. But I am still conscious about sharing the email ID directly on the blog as it may affect in spamming.

While it can be hard to write about yourself for some people it is best just to do it if adding a personal feel to your blog is important.
Another thing I like to do on an about me page is have links to any social accounts tied to the blog so they can read more about you.
Most people I know find it almost impossible to write their about their own self. Its hard to write it without exaggerating.

Some helpful tips here to write an about me page.Other points to take note of are:
1.Just be human – we all prefer reading a blog from a somebody more than a faceless blog.
2.Validation and Proof – show pictures, achievements, videos, use anything to show you with leaders, cheques etc Anything that proves who you are and what you’re saying.

A blog’s About Me page is the best opportunity to engage audience attention and tell them about you. If your audience enjoys your content, they are very likely to view your About Me page for more information. For maximum usage, I’ve found that using the Problem + Agitate + Solve formula in this section will increase stickiness and reinforce your blog’s brand. My .02!

You are right if you make your about me page pop then people will want to get to know you. Also a very important thing to do is to add your my space, face book, and twitter so you can get to know your visitors even though I am getting tired of the constant email telling me I need to try this service or that service. I do like the fact that I no longer have to search out for link exchanges I just open up my email and I see one or two daily. Anyway you are right make your about me page well and your visitors will actually care what you have to say and be wanting more and more.
Disappointed with this post. WHY is it such an important thing?
