Blogging for beginners – How to go about it

Lots of blogs are created every day, more and more people want to get online, they want to have their own voice. Many people don’t know where to get started and many people are confused. Many people know but are not sure and others just want to confirm they are on the right path. The truth is you might be missing it wrong even if you havestarted blogging before reading this post.

Below are some great tips on how beginners can create a better blog.

  • Your Blogging Plan:

The truth is if you make a mistake here, it might cost you a lot. I had a blog which was not well planned out, I
wrote lots of guest posts, made lots of comments, did a lot of SEO and worked so much on building traffic to my blog, the result of this blog is that it is now abandoned. Why? I made this mistake.

Your blogging plan will lead to many other things about your blog;it will lead to your domain name, type of post, promotion, networking and the likes.
You should know the goal of your blog from start i.e. who will be your target audience, how you will get to them, their likes e.t.c. “If you fail to plan then you are planning to fail”.

So many people blog in niches in which they have made themselves an authority, they have traffic, following and voice but they find it difficult to make money because people in their niche would not just buy – they want free things.

  • Know Your Audience:

What makes a blogger happier than writing a post for a particular audience, just to see them respond, comment and
react positively to the post. I am sure you wouldn’t want to be building for the wrong set of people. Do you ever imagine telling adults how to go to school? Or telling babies how to get married? Sounds funny! But the truth is, without the right audience you will never go far. Your audience wants the right message, they are visiting your blog because they want their problem solved, and they wouldn’t just want to read what they can’t relate with.

  • Domain Name:

Choosing a good domain name is very critical to your online success. One of the major problems I had with my first blog I abandoned was with the domain name. I was using a domain name I couldn’t reckon with in the future and I eventually regretted it because I had to start again when my blog is achieving success and fame (Alexa rank 100,000, pagerank 4 and hundreds of daily readers). Choosing the right domain name will help you achieve a lot of great
things, it will determine how fast your website will grow, it will determine how readers react to your content, it will determine how visitors know what your blog is all about and it will also affect your SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

A good suggestion is to include your keyword in your domain name and also make it as short as possible. You might also want to use your name but the former is better in form of SEO and branding.

  • Give Value:

I noticed most of the blogging problems on the net can be found with beginners. They don’t know what to write about so you see them copying content from different places on the web. Your blog is for you therefore you must be unique; you must have your own voice. Your audience wants to read YOU and not your content – Or better
stated, they want to read your opinion about the subject of your content so copying another blogger’s post will do you more harm than good.

  • Your Passion:

It is funny and at the same time sad that I will be ending this post with this point. The truth (especially in the make money online and blogging tipsniche) is that you can hardly build a blog and turn it to success in less than a year. Having passion will make you continue with your blog when everything does not seem to work well, it will also reflect in the type and quality of your post.
If you have passion about your blog, you will be able to go to any length to make sure your blog is a success.

There are a lot to learn when starting a new blog; you need to know the basics and you will discover the rest with time. The above are 5 great and solid tips for beginner bloggers; use it to unlock your success.

  4. Hey, great advice. I think its very important that people have realistic goals when they start out. Its easy to get caught up in the hype of making $1000/day but the truth is that most internet marketers need to work at it for at least a few years to reach numbers anything like that.

I have one more tip. End Blog Posts With Questions. Make the question as specific as possible. “What do you think?” might not be inspiring enough to get someone to comment. Re-iterate the point or argument of the blog post in the question, to make it as direct and pointed as possible. This would enable more people to comment on your posts.

  6. Proper planning is really needed for blogging. I created a blog but i don't update regular it. Thanks for tips.

  7. I guess you are right that the "blogging and make money online" is a very competitive niche. Unlike the other blogs I created I think my latest blog will have a hard time and a long wait to gather traffic. Top bloggers blogging about making money online and tell others and encourage them will just make the blog sphere full of copy cat bloggers telling the same and that has a viral effect. Similar to pyramid or MLM scheme that those who will have the least and suffer the most are those who are on the bottom.

Anyway my I'll just put extra effort to make my blogging advice and make money online blog succeed.

  15. Geoff Dodd says:

Yes, in a sense, blogs ought to be about way more focused subjects than just ‘blogging’ :) – although we’re all struggling to get the technical aspects optimized. Planning the key phrase focus and then writing passionately? I believe in these two areas, and that they will lead to inevitable success. You need to know the specific keywords that your consumers of info or ‘buyers’ actually use in their searches. This is how you zoom in on a target group of people. And emotion.. a winning factor with your audience. Geoff.

  20. Tom says:

There are no new ideas. When we create, we dig into our well of knowledge and experience, grab a handfull of stuff, mash it up and recombine it in new ways. But the idea is still built out of other ideas that came before – ideas we’ve consumed. So, I feel we should read more to create good blog ideas. I hope this tip works for beginners too.

  21. Blogging in its present form is, in many ways, doing the net a disservice.

After all, the net was founded for the express purpose of sharing well researched, cutting edge material in the various disciplines.

What we see on the net though are folks writing with the thinnest of backgrounds in their chosen subjects.

And, since search engines seem not to recognize quality over quantity, the net becomes full of erroneous opinions and shallowly adopted attitudes that, in effect, destroy the effectiveness of the net itself.

No one, even the very best minds our society has to offer, can write more than one worthwhile article per week. Often the very best among us write one paper per year. In one really productive year, Einstein wrote six.

Unfortunately, the fellow or gal who wouldn’t have dreamed of taking Latin in school, is allowed to clutter the airways with material that is best left unsaid because it has been said millions of times prior – (Who is Angelina adopting this week?).

As my grandfather used to say, (may he rest in peace) “Be silent, and others will know not that you know not.”

  22. Murlu says:

Step back, zoom out and look at the larger picture of what you want your blog to be about.

When you have the first rumblings of your blog begin writing down everything that pours of your head. You really need to think this through.

One problem many bloggers fall into when they first begin to blog is (as you said) not having a entry and exit plan – they start writing and a month or two down the road run out of ideas, lack the passion and become frustrated.

I think if you spend at least a month preplanning, making connections and become active within a community before you launch your blog, you can see what’s working, test the grounds to see if you do have the passion and make smart choices on where your blog is going to go.
