This post is a follow up and continuation of my thought process that started with my last post entitled, why blogging? At Tycoon Blogger, I have attempted to create a blog that helps other bloggers learn about blog promotion and other tips that will hopefully allow them to earn a few bucks. Along the way, I stress the importance of passion and perseverance.
I have been asking myself lately, “am I a good blogger?” or “can I become a great blogger?” I am sure many of you have been asking yourself the same questions.
Sure, I aspire to be the best blogger that I can be, but actually being “great” is not on the top of my wish list. I do not think that I will be the next ProBlogger or ShoeMoney (even though I think a lot of the A-list bloggers are just a notch above avergae, but, I will save that for another post). I just want to be me and be the best I can be. I have been told by many that I am on my way to becoming a great blogger, but even if people told me that I sucked, I would still continue to blog. I blog because I like to write and create content. I don’t think that I suck at it and I also do not think that I am great.
So I am not great and I do not suck, so what keeps me going. Two words; Self Confidence.

I have a tremendous amount of self confidence. I believe in myself and know that if I continue to blog with passion, I will keep getting better. I know my blogging skills will continue to improve. I looked back at the first week of posts on this blog and the most recent week and it is night and day. I know I am getting better at blogging and this propels me forward. Reading positive comments and knowing that at times I am sharing information that helps other bloggers succeed keeps me going as well.
The point I am trying to make with this post is that blogging greatness comes with time, dedication and passion. If you are feeling like just an average blogger out there, take comfort in the fact that every time you write a post you are working towards getting better. Most bloggers fail because they do not receive enough positive reinforcement early on. In order to make it past the first year of blogging, you need to look inside and have self confidence and the self motivation to keep moving forward regardless of what anyone else thinks. If you think you could be great and work hard everyday, then you are on your way towards greatness.
How do bloggers become great? They blog.
You don’t have to great to start blogging? Just blog and the self confidence will follow with every post.

Self confident is really the foundation to become a good blogger. Without this, you will always behind the race.
…yes self confidence is very important when it comes blogging. A blogger should established all the necessaries confidence to excel in the field of blogging.
Quite simple, noone will believe you if you don’t believe on yourself at the first place.
For those who are still new at blogging, I suggest they start blogging with the things they are confident about, before jumping to those topics which are hot but not too acquainted of.
Self-confidence influences every facet of a person’s life. Ultimately, having high self-esteem indicates that an individual feels she has self-worth. These positive thoughts can influence those around her to be happy. A person’s health is better with self-confidence as someone is more inclined to eat right, remain active and have proper sleep. All of these indications lead to increase chances of success.
Hm…. I am a bad blogger, but a good marketing geek) So I guess I am in the game as well))
Self confidence is quite important in blogging, People have a natural tendency to trust you more when you seem confident because Confidence creates trust!
Thanks for the post.
Self confidence is really important in blogging. I also aspire to be a great blogger, at least one of the youngest in 2010.

I think it’s safe to say that self-confidence is important in all aspects of life, really. The confident ones get the good jobs. The confident ones get the hot girls.
Confidence has a sort of contagious aspect to it that spills into everything we do – And it’s very obvious. If you lack confidence, you’re just going to turn other away.

I’ve been blogging since last 18 months on a non-profit initiative (OM Careers – http://www.omcareers.org/blog). Somehow I survived the first year & only recently I reached the milestone of 100th post (including my blog posts at other blogs). I was wondering how much % of the bloggers reach this milestone. I don’t think it will be more than 1%. What do you say? I read somewhere that there are over 200 million blogs in total. Also, in your opinion, what (passion, discipline…?) does it take on a blogger’s part to reach this critical milestone?
This post sort of reminds me of copybloggers 10 steps to becoming a better writer. It is true that you can only learn to be a Great Blogger by Blogging and often everyday if you can.The thing about Problogger and Shoemoney is that these are Team Blogs they can discuss with each other before an Article is Published on how to Improve that Article and Make it Perfect. But most of Us are the only one’s to see our posts before they are published.

While self confidence is certainly important, having some kind of ability to convey clear and rational thought with your words is probably far more important. I’ve seen many blogs where the blogger has great ideas and loads of confidence, but their inability to write well keeps readers like me from coming back. That said, if you don’t have any confidence, your odds of succeeding are pretty slim as well.
Self confidence is a great key to become a successful person. So this blog is a key for self confidant people.
Hi,
It is very important for everyone to keep confidence while blogging as it will give you the best results and you will update with some necessary info.
Totally agree. You have to be confident to have others follow you. If your not confident, no one is going to listen and no one is going to come back. Blogs might just be words on paper, but the confidence level of the writer can be spotted within each word.
I even think that self confidence which able to create a difference to us as blogger. Self confidence make us confidence to speak our our self trough our blog posting. And that’s a great way to become acknowledge.

When I started out, the belief that I could be different as well as the encouragement given to me by readers and family meant I kept plugging at it and growing it slowly.
I definitely agree that you need self confidence to stick it out – unfortunately most don’t have this which is why 90%+ of blogs fail within the first year.

I think the first necessity for any writer (or speaker) is to have the self-confidence (a.k.a. ego) to believe that other people are actually going to be interested in what you have to say. The techniques can be learned, but that has to come from deep inside you. (Guess that means I must have a fairly healthy ego – I’ve been writing since I was knee-high to a grasshopper, and have been a speaker for 35 years.

@mk akan, Agreed, You need to be bold and not be afraid to put yourself out there. A timid blogger will not succeed.
You are definitely great and do not suck. There are so many crappy people in this world, you are doing more than enough for the blogging community and to help other people. I definitely give you two thumbs up, self-confidence is much difference than arrogance, but sometimes it is a fine line, that you never even come close to crossing dude!
@Noel Biderman, Thanks for the kind words and for stopping by and commenting .
