I am sure you have experienced some days where you are stuck for ideas on what to blog about. On the other hand, you may have a whole notebook of ideas, but may not have the time or mental capacity to write an in-depth piece. No worries, here is a list of 10 very easy to write blog posts. After a long week, I was burnt and although I have dozens of topics to write about, I did not have the energy for a “research piece” or pillar type article. This is why I decided to craft a list of 10 easy ideas to blog about. I am using one of my ideas below and creating a list, which is one of the easiest blog posts to create. In addition, lists tend to be among the most popular type of blog posts and serve as link bait. They also do well on Twitter and social bookmarking sites. I am sure you have heard of some of these, but I am pretty sure there are a couple fresh ideas that can help you out as well.
Check your comments
Your comment section is a treasure trove of inspiration. Chances are there will be questions you can answer in the form of a blog post so all of your readers will benefit. It can also be a cool idea to write a pot about the best blog comments for the month, you can tie this into a top commentors post as well.
Make a list
I am using this one right now. Everyone loves lists and the subjects are limitless. Here are some ideas: Top Bloggers you have never heard of, or Top 10 Blog Designs..
Interview someone
I always enjoy reading these types of interviews and they are fairly easy to write. The hardest part is usually tracking the person down. I have found that using Twitter is a real easy way to catch up with someone and it is a pretty cool way to conduct an interview. If you are stuck for someone to interview, I am always available.
Blog Review
Write 250 words about one of your favorite blogs that you visit. This is easy and you will be doing your readers a service to introducing them to a new blogger and you will be hooking up the blogger with some link love
Give link love
Another easy post idea is to highlight your top commentors and link to their site. If you are on Entrecard, you can write a post about your top droppers and give some links. Another idea is to do a weekly roundup where you link to the best blog posts around the blogosphere. You can thank some of your Twitter followers for retweeting your tweets or for the followfriday love. There are tons of ways that you can link to others and it makes a useful and easy blog post.
Share a contest
Let your readers know about a blog contest that is going on. I know I like to be informed about chances to win cash.
What plugins are you using?
This is one of the easiest posts to write. You simply list the plugins you are using and a brief explanation of what it does. I know I have found some very useful new plugins by reading these types of posts.
Ask a question on Twitter
Twitter is good for traffic but it can also be good for content. I wrote a post about this last month if you want to check it out.
Check out Google Wonder wheel
I got this tip from Nicolas Prudhon. This is a great way to check out what you should be blogging about to rank high for your keywords. This will show you dozens of topics to blog about. Pick one, write 300 words about it, optimize the title and you will be good to go.
Talk about your blog
Write a blog post about your stats. This is usually good to do once a month. You can write about your visitors, Alexa rank, page rank, sources of traffic, number of comments, adsense earnings, other money earned from your blog, etc..
There you have it, 10 super easy blog post ideas. Do you have any to add? Let me know in the comments..

What is your favorite url shortener? I used to use tinyurl and then switched to bit.ly because it offered better tracking capabilities. Over the last couple of months there have literally been hundreds of new url shorteners that have been launched. I wanted to share with you a url shortening service that you can actually use to make money with. The service is called ADf.ly and it works just like all the other services by shortening your url but you can actually make some cash each and every time someone clicks on your link. Each time your link is clicked and ad will pop up for a few seconds while your link is loading. You get paid based on the amount of page views.
I decided to take this for a test drive and created a new account today. The one downfall to this is that this could really annoy your followers and sooner or later when someone sees the adf.ly url they may choose to ignore it instead of clicking through. Luckily, I have 2 Twitter accounts. I have my @tycoonblogger account as well as an account called @followyou2. I created @followyou2 just for this very reason, to test new Twitter monetization strategies and Twitter follower strategies.
I will write a follow up post in 30 days and let you know if this is a real way to make money with your blog and Twitter or if it is a waste of time.
In the meantime, if you want to check it out for yourself, here is a direct link to the site:

Last week I wrote a guest post on BloggingAgenda.com about how to retweet on Twitter and why you should retweet. Today, I want to focus on 5 basic strategies you can employ to get more of your tweets retweeted. Here are some tips:
Write tweets that are 120 characters instead of 140, that way you will make it easier for the person to retweet it. If the person has to edit your tweet first, there is less of a chance that they will pass it along.
Spread the Love- If you read my blog often, you will see that this is a central theme throughout and it is very important in the Twitterverse. My rule of thumb is to give way more than I receive. A 10 to 1 ratio works well in my opinion. I find the more I retweet others the more retweets I get.
Don’t flood your followers with links. If you tweet too often and too close together your followers will either unfollow you or ignore you. If they don’t read your stuff it is impossible for them to share it with others. I limit my daily tweets to 3 self serving tweets.
Write something interesting. This is common sense, but make sure your tweet is entertaining or helpful. If it is not, just don’t send it. It is important to be selective with what you tweet and do not send out everything you publish to your blog.
Build your network. This is critical to success on Twitter. You have to make friends with people that have a propensity to retweet. It is also a great idea to build a circle of friends where you all agree to retweet each other. If anyone is interested in reciprocating retweets with me, just contact me here or email me at tycoonblogger (at) gmail.com
*Bonus Tip- These two sites will help you spread your tweets. I use them almost daily and on average my tweet reaches over 10,000 additional people.

Yesterday my blog was nominated for best blog about blogging in the Blogger’s Choice Awards. I am writing this short post not so you will vote for me (I am hoping that you will
) but rather to let you know that this is a great way to promote your blog.
A couple of days ago I wrote a post about branding your blog. This is an excellent opportunity to associate your blog with the movers and shakers in the blogosphere. It is kind of like at the Academy Awards when the new comer says, “I am just happy to be nominated.” If you can share the stage with blogs like ProBlogger (the winner in 2008) why wouldn’t you jump at the chance?
This is also a great way to drive traffic to your blog. People will click on your blog to see if they want to vote for you or not. In one day, I received 24 new visitors from the Blogger’s Choice Awards website. That is not a ton of traffic but in a month it will add up to 720 new visitors, and if your content is strong you should be able to convert a percentage of those visitors into readers. After all, these are bloggers who like checking out blogs, what better audience could there be for a blogger that blogs about blogging.
To make this a highly effective source of traffic you will want to try to get to the first page in your category. That sounds like a huge task but in reality in many categories 30+ votes will get you on page #1. I am willing to bet that if you are the front page for your category that will translate into hundreds of new visitors a day.
After one day, I have 12 votes and that puts me on page 3. I don’t think I have a chance to win, but I am aiming to be on page 1 for my category.

Have you heard of backtype? I was searching Google for “tycoon blogger” yesterday and this was the fourth site that pulled up. Of course, I had to take a closer look. I discovered a pretty cool and useful tool that is intended to help bloggers track their blog comments on other blogs. Backtype works like a search engine that indexes comments on blogs and social networks and allows users to find, follow and share comments.
The coolest feature of this site is that they have the option for you to subscribe and receive updates every time your blog or keywords show up in any comments. It is like Google alerts for the blogosphere. This will enable you to monitor your “blog brand” and also it will make it real easy for you to join in on the conversation. I set it up to monitor the keyword phrase “promote your blog” as this is my primary keyword right now and I want to be involved in any and all conversations that involve this topic. This is an awesome way to increase your visibility within your target audience and help build your brand. It is also useful for reputation management and you can monitor if someone is talking smack on you or your blog.
This tool will also allow you to track what blogs other bloggers are commenting on. For example, if you wanted to know every blog that Darren from ProBlogger comments on you can find that in a couple of seconds. I will be researching this further and I want to find out the top blogs that the top bloggers are commenting on. I have already uncovered about a dozen new blogs that I will start commenting on.
About a month ago, backtype launched a plugin that aggregates comments for other sources like Twitter, Digg and other social networking sites and displays them in the comment section of your blog. It sounds like a great idea and would be great for bloggers that are looking to boost their comment volume. For now, I am holding off on installing this but I will let you know if I do and how it is working.
Have you heard of backtype before?
